Vorgee in the Community
Vorgee was the proud sponsor of 2012 National Pool Lifesaving championships which took place in June at the Kinsmen Sports Center in Edmonton. We hope to be involved in the 2012 National Surf Lifesaving Championships, taking place in Lake Simon, Qc this summer.
Here what the provincial governing body had to say:
If I ever fall in the water, I hope someone like Scott Southwood is nearby.
The 19-year-old, who already holds several national records in Lifesaving Sport was in top form over the weekend of June 1-3, as the Lifesaving Society of Alberta and the Northwest Territories hosted the Canadian Pool Lifesaving Championships. Southwood padded his already-impressive resume with a new Canadian record in the 100m Rescue Medley, finishing with a time of a minute and fifteen seconds flat -- and breaking the previous record by almost a second.
There were numerous records broken, and impressive showings from many of the more than 80 athletes who came to the event from all over Canada. Seven athletes were named to the national team, including Alberta's Mason Kuhn.
Alberta took home its fourth consecutive national title, highlighting how much the sport has grown in this province. In particular, the 16-19 team from Alberta was particularly strong, which bodes well for Alberta's chances in the upcoming years' competitions.
